UK based African Movie Channel berths in Nigeria




           UK based African Movie Channel (AMC), the world’s first global channel dedicated to the best movies and series from Nigeria’s Nollywood, and the best from the rest of Africa, has berthed in Nigeria.
AMC, HVP gathered, will be officially launched in Nigeria on Sunday, August 11,  at the Grand Ballroom of the Oriental Hotel, Lekki.
Expected to grace the classy event  which will be hosted by the man of the moment, Teju Babyface, with Andre Blaze as red carpet Anchor persons,  are who’s who in media and business, along with top Nollywood stars.

          African Movie Channel started operations in 2006, when it launched Europe’s first channel dedicated to top Nollywood and other African movies, and also pioneered the online digital distribution of Nollywood movies and drama series at full-screen DVD quality a year later through its online On-Demand channel, and a partnership with British Telecom (BT) on its BT Vision Download Store.
The 24/7 African movies and series linear channel dedicated to showing only the best quality movies and series primarily from Nollywood, was launched in May 2011, with AMC’s technical partners, Advanced Broadcast Services (ABS) in London providing a fully managed playout service of the channel. ABS is one of the largest playout and TV facility companies in Europe.
Notable TV platforms carrying African Movie Channel include StarTimes in Nigeria, Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Mozambique, among others.
