NWATAIRIUJU-Child of Sorrow

1975 was the year. The year the war started. A war against destiny, a war that has left me desolate, a war that has torn me from inside out. I do not speak of a physical war, but of the war against the gods, captors of my happiness. A war that has earned me the name Nwatairiuju; meaning child of sorrow. A war I must fight till victory. My name is Nwatairiuju, son of Odenigbo the great hunter and this is my story.

ASKED TO PROBATE

One year ago, i was seating on this bench, in a teenage meeting at my church. I was thanking God for grace and strength to read, and for a successful completion of my 2nd year in the university. One year after, i am seating on that very same bench and spot in the same teenage meeting at my church, not sure how or whether to thank God for the completion, hopefully successful, of my 2nd year...AGAIN!

UGLINESS of the 21st century

I often wonder how it feels to be ugly. I wonder how 'the ugly' feel being and knowing they are ugly. You know what I wonder most about? I wonder how 'the ugly' who don't know they are ugly feel like. Painfully, these are the one's with the biggest ego.

NOSTALGIA: diary of a tired Uniben student

How time flies :(. I remember growing up. How easy life was. I particularly remember how easy school was. I did t need to stress out to be excellent. I didn't need to read everyday to pass my examinations. I didnt even need to worry about the friends I kept affecting my grades.
All I needed to worry about was showing up to school early (Bulk of the reason was to avoid being punished for coming late), taking down note (written on the board) given by the teachers, and doing homework. How I earnestly yearn for a taste of that again.
As a child, I wanted to grow up so quickly. I thought the adults had it all. Independence, freedom and the best of things. This one time, i went into the bathroom, snuck a black pencil from my mothers dresser (eye liner) and colored my chin, and any other area of my face i felt i needed facial hair. Looked in the mirrow and wondered away in thoughts of how cool my life would be had i had facial hairs. I simply wanted to be grown! Why didn't somebody warn me that growing up was a trap? Though I probably wouldn't have listened.
Here I am now, laying on my bed, trying to understand what in heavens name 'GLYCOLYSIS, GLUCONEOGENESIS, AND THE PENTOSE PHOSPHATE PATHWAY' means.
I had been told earlier this evening that we would be having an MBC test tomorrow. Just next after 'wasting my day' on the list of things to do was reading.
With all that had happened to me in the past few months academically, 'night class' was a no-no for me. So, I am left with the only choice of studying in my room with my extension box connected light source. Electrical connections to my bulb had malfunctioned so I had to create a D.I.Y source of light.
I struggled to find the at least 100pages of materials divided into nothing less than 10 topic parts with my faintly illuminating D.I.Y light source. Picked out one to start reading and just couldn't get passed the first paragraph.
'Maybe the internet would help', I told my self, reaching out to my phone plugged close by to google up materials on the topics.
I went back and fort trying to find which would interest me. How did life get this complicated? What had happened to the good old days when what the teacher taught in class was enough to get a C and flipping through the taken down notes could get you an A? Now, full attendance of classes and reading notes jotted down in class could only at best get you a C.
All I wish for now is to get passed this phase quickly and be a man, working with a fat pay, and a lovely family. And the circle goes on and on. I keep wishing for the next phase quickly only to discover the previous was a lot better. I guess its pretty obvious I have to try to make the best out of each phase as they come. Enjoy it and ease myself into the next phase.

P.S: I still can't get myself to study for my MBC (Medical BioChemistry) test tomorrow... :(

The Gay wedding- a photographers dilemma

So guys, I saw something pretty interesting this morning that I want to share...

I was doing my routine morning scan through facebook.com and I saw a very controversial but interesting post and thought I should share it with you guys and get your opinion(s) about it.

A photographer ‘facebook-friend’ of mine who by the way I completely respect and look up to posted something that really got me thinking. In his very words, he said and I quote:

“I got an early DM via twitter this morning from a prospect abroad, he asked “Do you do photography for same sex weddings?”. As always i want to respond ASAP but then I got a little confused and I’m wondering why. Of course the pay will be great but my faith..., and if the government of naija gets to know. What do you suggest, as he is still expecting a response ASAP. Help a brother here”

THE WONDER PLANT CALLED 'MORINGA'

I badly wanted to know why exactly this plant had come into my house and has taken over the place of our conventional beverages. There is virtually no home you enter now that has an adult that you wouldn’t find this Moringa plant; literary speaking. It shocked me to know that this plant can treat well over 200 diseases of which i could only list a few
Moringa is a plant that is native to the sub-Himalayan areas of India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, and Afghanistan. It is also grown in the tropics. The leaves, bark, flowers, fruit, seeds, and root are used to make medicine.

Moringa is used for :-

Ever Loved Someone That Didn't Love You Back?

Ever Loved someone so much that it seems no matter what they do you don't love them less?
Well, I have.
I fell in love with this person one time, and He didn't treat me right. He loved someone else more than he loved me - and he always said it. So Basically, I was the 'spare' - The one he used to keep warm because his 'love' was in another university.
There was this one time. I went to Visit him in His Hostel, and just when I was approaching his room, a girl (who'd I call AB) was leaving.
He said she was just a friend. I believed. Why would he lie? Afterall sincere enough to tell me about the other girl in another school.

When Life Gives You Lemons, Make a Lemonade

Exams were to start in three days. Dayo Had just finished Revising the course he was to write first, when his hostel mates started calling those interested in Playing football to come down to the field. Dayo, quickly ran downstairs, He felt football after three hours of intense reading was a good way to relax.

Few minutes after the second Half, Dayo noticed that an opponent had dribbled his players, leaving him and a teammate who was playing defense.  Much to his dismay, his opponent successfully passed his defender and sent the ball straight to the goal post, in other to save the goal, Dayo had to perform a stunt which required him to dive and stretch.
He caught the ball successfully and fell on his right hand. Trying to stand up he heard a cracking sound from his right hand and he screamed.

MY BAKING RECIPIE

Whoever said baking was hard, buhu!
I come from a very industrious family. I have a civil engineer dad who has virtually ventured into almost all other branches of his field, great with electrical works and repairs, creative with steel and wood, and did I mention he is a fantastic cook? On the other hand, is my mom ; a Nurse who bakes, a great event manager and a terrific cook. Then again, there are my siblings; my brother and my sister. My brother, a diplomat turned model, slash event planner, slash baker, slash crowd puller (if that counts as anything....lol). My sister... it’s so hard to actually pin point anything. She virtually can do anything so long she sees it at all. Name it, hair making, nails fixing, ‘minor’ electrical works, baking, great experimental cooking, the list goes on and on.

HELP FOR THE ORPHAN CHILD

I have been so unease with myself since I left the children. I couldn’t touch anything. I felt guilty extending a hand shake. All I wanted to do was get home and wash up. I really don’t  mean to sound the way I am sounding but I’m sure when I’m done with this write up you would understand why I said what I have said.

THE JORNAL

PERSONAL DATA

NAME: UGO IGWE
DOB: 10|10|1993
EDUCATIONAL BACKGROUND: STUDENT
HOBBIES: WRITTING

The above information, are my personal data. All my life, I had always had a reason not to love who I am. Somehow, somewhere along the line, the big man up above finally looked down below at me. Up until now, I didn’t fully understand what grace was all about. Grace is an unmerited favour from God. This was basically all I understood grace to be. They say you never know the value of something until you lose it. My life up to this point has been a function of God’s grace right up till now, where it all ended.

4 MONTHS, 2 WEEKS

As a last minute choice, I anchored a luncheon. Something I never imagined I could ever do being that I am the shy type. Something was different that day. I had never let go as I did that day. I moved from table to table chatting and relating with guest seated. Voila! There she was...such confidence. I hadn’t talked to anyone so free and confident since the day started. I was mesmerized. SHE WAS DAMN PRETTY!

CHANGING THE RULES

As a BBM(blackberry messenger) tradition, you give your contacts weeks in advance update of your birthday via your PM(personal message). When it is a day to the day, it becomes hourly update in form of a countdown to the day. When the twelfth hour finally comes, your PM is then updated to things like ‘it’s my birthday!’ ‘thank God for adding another year to my life’ and so on...all to make it known to your contacts that it is your big day.

Mature Size: Mature plants can grow up to 5 feet tall by 3 feet wide.
